Tradition calls for starting the Gathering with a taster… and it is not a random workshop!
Every edition has had a special theme that, on top of being a warm-up for the party, is a fun practice to get to know the people we'll be spending the weekend with. And it has been all about fun!

FRIDAY NIGHT PARTY
Shuffle Collective is exactly what the name suggests: a collective of people who love swing and blues music and come together to make dancers move! Born from the local dance community, this Collective began with informal jam sessions — and it didn’t take long before that joy evolved into Porto’s first band dedicated to playing especially for the local Swing & Blues dancers!
Sometimes it’s three members on stage; other times, the Collective shows up with more musicians, always bringing a fresh twist to the show!
For this 9th edition, Shuffle Collective is turning things up a notch! Get ready to dance from the slowest blues tunes to the energetic swing jazz!

LINDY HOP MUSICALITY
Bota Gatherings is all about masterclasses! We love creating themes between classes that complement each other and build a deep exploration of dance. This has made every Gathering unique and memorable, and has helped us grow a little more as dancers each time!
This time, we'll be exploring musicality and, guess what? It and live music will go hand in hand! Join us to explore a Lindy Hop Masterclass with the incredible Maka at the helm and the guest band setting the rhythm: Toulouse Hot Club!
SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY
On Saturday night, we jump straight into the action! Enjoy amazing DJs and a Swing & Blues concert from our guest band:
TOULOUSE HOT CLUB
Bringing together 6 musicians for 12 instruments played on stage, Toulouse Hot Club performs a diverse repertoire, from Swing to Rhythm'n'Blues, through the standards of New Orleans!
They play everywhere from the streets to bars, large dance halls, jazz festivals and even the Bota Gathering stage in 2024! (and yes, after that memorable weekend we booked them two years in advance)
Besides numerous compositions, original arrangements, and unique covers, expect a journey full of surprises, bursts of energy and pure fun!
SUNDAY MASTERCLASS
PARTNER BLUES MUSICALITY
After an afternoon of Swing Jazz and 2 night parties, we slow things down for a partner blues musicality class with Gil & Andy as tutors and live music by Shuffle Collective duo in an intimate show — just the way we like it!
We’ll explore the essence of Blues by playing with movement flow, rhythmic tools, spontaneous moments with live music, and challenges to inspire dancers to bring even more groove to the dancefloor!
It's also tradition to wrap up the Gathering with a Tea Party in the Sunday afternoon with live music from the guest band!
One last party, for the last hurrah!
The band wraps up early (around 20:00) for those who need to get back to their routine on Sunday night;
And for those still standing, anything can happen after the concert/dinner…
… DJs going all out, a surprise jam session, or world music for the last jumps before we all end up on the floor:

This is our special moment to come together, sharing "see you soon" dances and hugs.
Since we'll be partying through the late afternoon, you don't need to worry about dinner — the usual delicious Brocolá soup will be served after the concert (included in your ticket)
Plus, the bar will have tasty snacks to recharge your energy. A worry-free last party!
